When commissioning Fine Cabinets, Furniture, or Fine Wooden Boxes, the best pieces seem to come from a close collaboration between client and craftsman. That special table, chair, or cabinet will reflect the collaborators and endure for generations to come. Aside from the manufactured, assembly line furniture that typifies our modern world, one can still find artists and craftsman who take pride in producing one of a kind work. The cost of commissioning individually designed, hand crafted, one of a kind work is around forty to sixty percent more than high end manufactured production work. This is not as high a price as one might think considering that a work of art will last several generations and become the heirloom antique of the future. Individually hand crafted woodwork generally does not depreciate but appreciates with the passage of time.
Whether it is a finely designed and crafted dining table and chair set, or multimedia center, or that perfect little end table and precious box with family treasures encased, many long hours of dedicated and devoted work often go into these creations. In the time it takes to create one individually designed chair, a thousand manufactured chairs can be produced, distributed to retailers and sold. I enjoy working one on one with my clients and producing the finest quality, most functional, and unique finished piece I can. Toward this goal I suggest that you first make certain of your needs in terms of function and secondly, your desires in terms of style and how it will fit into your home or office environment. After careful discussion I will create sketches and or finished detailed drawings that will allow me to make a considered estimate of costs.
Although I do pursue various specific approaches to design, my experience working with Architects, Designers and with many other woodworkers for over 25 years enables me to use a broad approach to your individual needs. For out of state clients we can crate and ship any where in the USA or abroad.
As any creative artist I am also interested in personal expression and the exploration of my chosen medium. The commission experience can be a creative venture for both client and artist.
